Travel & Accommodations

Rigaud is a town about 50 minutes west from downtown Montreal and 1 hour 20 minutes from downtown Ottawa. If you are flying in, the nearest international airport is Pierre Elliot Trudeau (YUL).

We have reserved a block of rooms at the Traveloge Rigaud and at Auberge Hudson. To book at the Travelodge, call and mention that you are part of the Parker Wedding Party. If you would like to stay at the Auberge Hudson, contact Parker's mother, Sharon, or contact us.

If you would like to look for your own accommodations closer to the city but want to be close to the venue, the West Island (the surburbs from the west point of the island to Dorval) is a good midway point.

Q&A

What do I wear?

Something on the spectrum of semi-formal to cocktail. Wear what makes you happy and comfortable. Note that the venue is rustic and part of the event will be outdoors (weather permitting), so dress appropriately.

What's for dinner?

Dinner will be a traditional cabane à sucre meal, served family-style. If you are unfamiliar with cabane à sucre, we explain more below.

Are kids welcome?

Yes, of course!

Where are you registered?

We're just happy to celebrate with our friends and family! But we've put together a registry to help those inclined to give a gift. We haven't settled in our longterm home and anticipate a few moves in the next couple years, so our material needs at this time in our lives are few, but we are very much looking forward to our honeymoon in Greece this summer! If you are in Canada, note that the honeymoon fund items on the registry only work with an American cash app called Venmo. It's easier to use e-transfer in Canada.

Venue Q&A

What's a "Sucrerie"?

The venue is a cabane à sucre. That's French for "Sugar Shack."

What's a Sugar Shack?

It's where maple syrup is made.

... But we're eating there?

In Quebec, during maple syrup season (the spring, when the sap starts to melt), families & friends go to sugar shacks like this one for a meal, generally breakfast or brunch. Traditionally, the meal consists of split pea soup, ham, beans, eggs, potatoes... Oh, and you put maple syrup on everything.

Sucrerie de la Montagne is a restaurant open year-round. They adapt the traditional menu for dinner. It's really good, we promise!

Where's the sentimental stuff?

We had to dig past lots of pictures of our dog to find these...
